Pat, thanks for that comment. This is not interacting with Wikipedia at all, it’s extracting a database from the XML dump file which can be downloaded.

Does the back end query api.php?

On the topic of summaries of blogging in various languages, you might want to check out http://globalvoicesonline.org . They summarize blog posts from all over the world. They also have a lot of translation going on in various directions. It’s a great organization.

Love your post. I think random is a fascinating idea. There is so much in the world to see, do, read. So many people, ideas, perspectives. Most people spend most of their time aware of only a tiny portion of what’s out there. If one knows more than one language, one can be aware of so much more.

One of my favorite words in the world is WYRYWKOWY. Means random in Polish. haven’t figured out how to pronounce it yet..but am working on it.

i do speak Spanish, but, yes, I have only websearched in English. So far. You bring up a good point.
