Links from Open Learning lecture
I just posted a list of the links that I mentioned during the Open Learning lecture on our course LMS, so I thought I might as well put it here. These are only websites or people I referred to explicitly, I could obviously add 20 more links just for general background, other great projects I didn’t have time to mention, etc.
- What’s Wrong With University and How to Make it Work for You Anyway (book by Jeff Rybak, ex-UTSC student)
- Ivory Tower Blues, A University System in Crisis (by two professors at Western University)
- A Vision of Students Today (by anthropology professor Michael Wesch - the movie we watched) (also Information R/evolution and Web 2.0… The Machine is us/ing us are very worth watching!)
- Birgit Brock-Utne discussed higher education in Africa, her book Whose Education for All is highly recommended
- Syllabus for Intro to Open Ed - the distance course I am taking that I introduced in class. Lot’s of great readings here too
- Examples of affordable computers: One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) and Intel Classmate PC
- Open University UK and Indira Gandhi Open University
